How it works

The diVa™ laser treatment is the newest evolution of laser vaginal therapy built on years of experience. diVa™ delivers two types of energy to aid in resurfacing the vaginal skin, while also stimulating the re-growth of new collagen, blood vessels, and nerve endings below the surface of the vaginal walls.

The deeper layer of the vaginal skin is responsible for the elastic nature of the vagina, the lubrication of the vaginal skin, and the sensitivity of the vaginal canal. Restoring this deeper vaginal layer, creates significant long-term changes to dry, lax and painful tissue.

The treatment is quick, and we can target specific regions to improve stress urinary incontinence or other localized issues. The treatment also addresses other sexual dysfunctions, such as dyspareunia or vaginal laxity.

It is often combined with Injection Therapy – for better control of the vaginal pH, mucous, and lubrication formation.

Procedure details

PROCESS
During your treatment, the diVa device, that includes a single use quartz dilator, is carefully positioned in the vagina. Once inserted, the dilator is left in place, and the device rotates through the treatment area, hence administering laser energy with high precision. No manual positioning is required, allowing for accurate targeting and greater patient comfort.
DURATION
The automated and computer-controlled treatment takes only 3 to 5 minutes.
SENSATION
The diVa laser therapy is fast, with minimal discomfort. A slight pressure may be felt against the vaginal wall, and some patients may experience increased sensitivity near the vaginal opening.
DOWNTIME
Normal activity can be resumed immediately after the treatment. No downtime is required.
SIDE EFFECTS
Spotting may occur for a day or two. Avoid intercourse for 48 hours. This is the period where your body starts to renew the vaginal lining.

Results

The improvement in lubrication and urinary symptoms can be felt following just one treatment, but it is recommended to do three treatments for optimal, long-lasting results.

FAQ

Is diVa™ laser therapy safe?

Yes. Clinical research has shown the procedure to be safe and effective, with no adverse effects. Women are typically happy with the results and would recommend the procedure to others.

Does diVa™ laser therapy hurt?

No. You may feel slight pressure while the device is inside the vagina. Occasionally some women experience some sensitivity around the opening of the vagina. Discomfort is minimal and temporary.

What should I expect after the procedure?

For some women, there may be some light spotting. Don’t use a tampon or have intercourse for 48 hours to avoid irritation or inflammation that could slow the renewal of the vaginal lining.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t have diVa™ laser therapy?

Pregnant women should not receive the treatment. A woman going through a urinary tract infection is not a suitable candidate either.

How many treatments do I need?

Three treatments are the standard protocol, four to six weeks apart. Therapy can be repeated one or more times annually, or as needed. Our physician will assess your individual needs and provide a personalized therapy plan.

How soon can I expect to see results?

Patients generally notice improvement after the first procedure, and optimal results are achieved one month after the third procedure.

Is anesthesia used during the laser treatment?

No. diVa laser treatments provided in our Montreal clinic are virtually painless, and anaesthesia is not required. However, topical numbing may be applied to increase your comfort.

You will be able to resume your regular daily activities (except for intercourse in the first 48 hours) right after your treatment.
